Business software that takes accounting seriously
We build the operational systems businesses run on — front desk, till, warehouse, factory floor — on top of a real double-entry ledger, for a market that most enterprise software was not designed for.
What we make
BusinessSensor is a Canadian company with its head office in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and branch offices in Lagos, Aba and Port Harcourt, Nigeria, building ERP software for businesses in a range of countries. Depending on the industry it is configured for, the platform runs reservations and a hotel front desk, a distribution operation with multiple warehouses, a factory with bills of material and work orders, or a retail floor with point of sale and stock.
Underneath all of those is the same thing: a double-entry accounting ledger that every transaction posts into as it happens. That is the design decision the whole product follows from. It is why the financial statements are not a monthly reconstruction, why a business running several operations can keep one set of books, and why the answer to "where did this figure come from" is a list of postings.
It runs installed on your own network, in the cloud, or both together — and it treats tax rules, payment methods and currencies as things you configure for your own market, rather than assumptions baked in by whoever wrote it.
The opinions behind the product
Accounting is not a report
A business system that cannot produce a trial balance is a sales database with a chart attached. We built the ledger first and the operational modules on top of it, which is the harder order and the one that makes the numbers hold up.
Software should fit the market it is sold into
Tax that matches the authority you actually file with. Payment rails your customers actually use. Prices in the currency you actually earn. These are not localisation details bolted on at the end; they decide whether the software is usable at all, and they differ in every country.
Infrastructure is not a given
Connectivity is not guaranteed everywhere the software runs, and that is as true of a rural high street as of an emerging market. A system that stops trading when the line drops is not fit for a counter with a queue at it, so ours runs on your own network when you need it to.
One business, one set of books
Plenty of operators run a hotel with a restaurant, a shop and a supply arm. Making them buy and reconcile three systems is a tax on being diversified. Ours share a ledger.
You should know who you are buying from
We are a Canadian company, contracting under Canadian law, with data processed in Canada — a jurisdiction the European Commission recognises as providing adequate data protection. Wherever you are, you can check who you are dealing with and under whose law before you commit, which is not true of every vendor selling business software online. We also have people on the ground beyond head office, so implementation and support are not something we do only by email from another continent.
SuiteHub
SuiteHub is our hotel product for direct bookings — a branded booking website with card payments, built for properties that would rather not hand a double-digit commission to an online travel agent for a guest who already knew their name. It carries its own brand and its own site, and it is ours.
